Philipp Hartlieb, Senior researcher at the Chair of Mining Engineering and Mineral Economics, Montanuniversitaet Leoben (MUL)
Description
This WP will provide an overview of the current status of technical and vocational training offered for raw materials professionals including, but not limited to, geology, mining, processing, health, safety & environment, in Europe and in advanced mining countries. Work includes the development of a mapping methodology (e.g. desk and online research, surveys, interviews with programme leaders) and the definition of a skills list for the raw materials sector. The output includes a searchable wiki open database interlinked with a geographic information system of the available training programmes, describing their strengths, weaknesses, protagonists, languages, content in relation to other courses, number of participants, target audience, duration & workload, skills developed, and nature of classes. This WP will also set a catalogue of skills for the raw materials sector. The outputs from this WP will be used in WP2 (gap assessment), WP3 (enhancing existing education and training programmes and developing joint training programmes for the raw materials sector), WP4 (planning and advancing the international network of raw materials training centres) and WP5 (dissemination and engagement with stakeholders), hence contributing to build up the international network of technical and vocational training centres. Check out the WP1 result presenting an overview of worldwide raw materials training programmes.
Deliverables
D 1.1: Skills catalogue for the raw materials sector
D 1.2: Database process manual
D 1.3: Database and web interface

Adrienn Cseko, Managing Director, La Palma Research Centre for Future Studies (LPRC)
Description
This Work Package investigated the current and expected labour market demand for raw materials professionals in three different timeframes, paying special attention to identifying the kind of professional skill sets that employers are looking for and that are likely to be in demand in the future. Results were then used to identify gaps in professional education and training offer, vs. industry demand according to short, medium and long timeframes.
Deliverables
D 2.1: Report on skills gaps
D 2.2: Integrated competency model for employment across the raw materials sector
D 2.3: Roadmap on skills provisioning for the raw materials sector

Description
This WP will accelerate the adaptation of existing training programmes and the development of new training modules addressing immediate and emerging industry needs (from Task 2.1). These recommendations will be combined in an Action Plan’ to close skill gaps and enhance existing education and training programmes, and will drive the alignment of training agendas and curricula in Europe and worldwide and the advance of joint international training programmes. Common metrics will be used to compare training processes and training outcomes, thus establishing common reference points for quality assurance and related recognition of teaching and training, setting best practice and aligning existing training offers for professionals and delivery methods with employers’ priorities and regional constraints.
The outputs from this WP will be used in WP4 (planning and advancing the international network of raw materials training centres and establishment of cooperation agreements between raw materials training centres) and WP5 (dissemination and engagement with stakeholders).
Deliverables
D 3.1: International qualification framework for the raw materials sector
D 3.4: Action plan to close skill gaps and enhance existing education and training programmes
D 3.5: Joint training programmes for the raw materials sector

Description
This WP will define the scope, create the agenda and investigate sustainability options for the long-term operation of a network dedicated to international cooperation and knowledge sharing by international raw materials training centres. The Network will capitalize on the work made in the other work packages (especially WP1, WP2 and WP3) to improve the framework conditions and competiveness of raw materials training and education in the EU and globally. The aim is to tackle longer-term challenges (as identified under WP2.1.2 and 2.1.3) by means of continued international cooperation and materialising a feasible, long-lasting international network of technical and vocational training centres for raw materials’ professionals. This will require the definition of a clear mission, statutes, supporting infrastructure and procedures
Deliverables
D 4.3: Online educational platform

Krishnan Subramani Ramakrishnan, Communications Officer, EuroGeoSurveys (EGS)
Description
This WP will create awareness about INTERMIN and will foster engagement with stakeholders, hence advancing and supporting the international network of technical and vocational training centres for raw materials’ professionals. Dissemination will follow an evolutive process, aiming to build awareness and raise the interest on INTERMIN (in the beginning), to mobilise the international community and facilitate stakeholders’ involvement in the development and expansion of the international network of training centres (in the intermediate stage) and (finally) to support the long- term feasibility of the network.
WP5 will ensure two-fold effective communications on the project progress and findings, internally and externally. The strengthening and maintenance of relevant institutional relations with high-level stakeholders will be fortified by a bold exploitation strategy. Specifically, WP5 will: 1) create awareness about INTERMIN, raising the project visibility; 2) foster the participation of stakeholders in the international network of training centres; 3) disseminate information on the project progress and outcomes, stimulating dialogues and international cooperation; 4) boost the launch of the Online Educational platform for the raw materials sector; 5) support the long-term action and expansion of the International Network of Raw Materials Training Centres.
Deliverables
D 5.1: Communication strategy and visual identity
D 5.2: Hub and spoke website
