The European Geosciences Union (EGU) is Europe’s premier geosciences union, which will bring together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary, and space sciences. The EGU General Assembly 2021 took place online from 19 to 30 April 2021.

This year the new virtual format ‘vEGU21: Gather Online’ has brought together 18,155 scientists from 136 countries with several daily unique online visitors of circa 13,000. The attendees were able to expand their network by sending direct messages and by posting comments on the displayed contents. The feature is made accessible until May 31, 2021.

The INTERMIN Project was one of the selected 56 Short Courses (SC) by EGU 2021 organizers to have a time slot during the conference. The Short Course session (SC 2.17) titled ‘The future of education and skills in the raw materials sector’ was held on April 26, 2021, at 16:00hrs CEST. The session aimed to present the current status of the training and education in raw materials, the evolution of skills and competencies in the raw materials sector and demonstrate the free online educational platform developed by the INTERMIN Team to the attendants. During the conference, INTERMIN representatives had spread the news about the project to potentially interested parties that participated in the EGU General Assembly.
