Intermin International Conference- October 2019

The skills required in the mining industry of the 21st century, both technological and social? was the motto of the Intermin International Conference.

The ESPOL Politechnical University hosted the Meeting of the meeting. The meeting included conferences, high-level meetings, round tables and visits to mining projects.

For the first time in Latin America, professionals from the area of ​​Mines and Geology met to discuss the necessary skills and abilities in the mining sector of the 21st century. Within this framework, a series of conferences, space, generated by Intermin in collaboration with ESPOL, was carried out, which aimed to identify the improvements that should be made in the academic field to prepare professionals specialized in Mines and Geology, to attend and adapt to emerging market changes.

During the conference, experts from different countries of the European Union, Chile and Ecuador, belonging to government entities, leading companies in the mining market and teachers, expressed the need for international training for future professionals in the area; as well as the unification in training, which offers opportunities to stand out globally; This was stated by Manuel Regueiro, coordinator of the Intermin International Network.

Further, titles such as European raw materials policy and its impact on education were discussed; Future skills for the digital era and mining social responsibility; Change management in the Ecuadorian mining sector; among others.
